HP CP1515 Printer Review

HP CP1515 Printer Review

The HP CP1515 Printer is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, Server 2003, XP Home and Professional, Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS X v10.2.8, v10.3, v10.4 or higher. The minimum system requirements to run the accompanying software are 512 and 350 megabytes of memory and free disk space, respectively; a CD-ROM drive to be used in installing the CD containing the software, and a USB 2.0 port to connect the two machines together.

The most significant feature of this printer is the Ethernet connection (10/100Base-TX with RJ-45 connector). It allows users to connect to just a single printer when performing their group tasks.

The HP CP1515 printer is a low-cost, reliable printer powered by a 450 MHz Motorola processor. It is equipped with 96 MB (352 MB max) of standard memory which is used as a temporary space for print jobs. This compact (399 x 453 x 254 mm) 18.2-kg printer is capable of working up to 12 pages per minute of ‘black ink only’ documents, and up to 8 pages per minute of coloured documents.

HP CP1515’s application of the Instant-on technology cuts the energy consumption to 50% while making way for a more efficient fusing to produce the first page of a job sooner, than the traditional ways. It can finish page one (black) in as fast as 25.5 seconds, while it is 31.5 seconds for coloured ones.

Speaking of energy consumption, the CP1515 printer also cares for you and the environment. Being labeled as an Energy Star certified, it consumes 295 watts of power when active, 11.4 watts when in standby mode and 4.7 watts when in sleep mode.

CP1515 has 2 standard paper trays, one for single-sheet (for one-page printing) and one which can handle 150 sheets. The standard media sizes are A4, A5, A6 and B5, but users may control or customize it, however, through its settings. It supports a broad range of papers, from bonds, brochures, colour and glossy papers to letterhead, photo and plain papers. Aside from those mentioned, it also supports labels, and envelopes.

HP CP1515 Toner

The Cons There are some disadvantages of owning the printer. One is the expensiveness of replacing the CP1515 toner. Another distraction is the noise it creates when printing. The speed is also an issue, but with a low-budget price, it is reasonable. It makes up for that weakness by giving its users quality and excellent products.

The printer uses HP ColorSphere toner cartridges. It implements the In-line colour laser printing technology to come up with vibrant, lively images and bolder texts. The HP CP1515 printer is outstanding in print quality reaching up to 600 x 600 dpi.

One thing to note though is that HP ColorSphere cartridges are expensive. They are double the price of the whole printer. A big no-no.

Another problem is the premature ’empty ink toner’ indication. The printer tells the user that a toner cartridge is already empty although there is still some contents left. The solution for this problem is to override the cartridge. You may check out some web documents regarding the matter.
